LG Electronics Acquires 80% Stake in Athom (Homey)

LG Electronics has acquired an 80% stake in Dutch smart-home company Athom, maker of the Homey smart home hub, with plans to buy the remaining 20% within three years. LG will integrate Athom's Homey platform into its ThinQ ecosystem to expand third-party connectivity and AI-enabled home capabilities; Athom will continue to operate independently and its founders will remain as executives. Financial terms were not disclosed.
