Benford Capital Partners Recapitalizes Nutrition Service Company

Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners completed a recapitalization of Nutrition Service Company, a Pulaski, Wisconsin-based producer of custom dairy cattle feed blends and processed soybean products. Benford will partner with NSC management (CEO Robert Block and CFO Paul Harke) to fund organic growth, invest in manufacturing and sales capabilities, and pursue add-on acquisitions as NSC becomes a platform investment for the firm.

Echelon Supply and Service (HCI-backed) Acquires Berg-Nelson Company

Echelon Supply and Service (ESS), backed by HCI Equity Partners, acquired Berg-Nelson Company, Inc. on March 30, 2022 as an add-on to the ESS platform. The acquisition expands ESS's West Coast distribution footprint and adds hose, gasket and custom assembly capabilities in Southern California; financial terms were not disclosed.

NewBold Corporation, a Stonewood Capital portfolio company, has acquired National Service Center (NSC) from Illinois Tool Works. NSC, based in Greenville, South Carolina, provides nationwide point-of-sale field repair, managed services and professional services to multi-unit retail and restaurant operators. The transaction expands NewBold's service capabilities and national footprint in POS and in-store technology for multi-unit operators.

Benson Hill Acquires ZFS Creston

Benson Hill, Inc. acquired ZFS Creston, LLC, a food‑grade soy white flake and soy flour manufacturing operation in Creston, Iowa, for approximately $102 million, primarily financed by a $100 million committed debt facility led by Avenue Capital Group. The acquisition gives Benson Hill immediate processing capacity to commercialize its high‑protein soybean varieties and expand its portfolio of non‑GMO, traceable soy protein ingredients for human and pet food markets.

CFS Brands Acquires Cornerstone Foodservice Group

CFS Brands, the Oklahoma City–based foodservice products manufacturer, has acquired Cornerstone Foodservice Group (CFG), the Naperville, Illinois–headquartered owner of Spring USA, LloydPans, Equipex, Astra and Versa‑Gard. The deal brings CFG’s manufacturing footprint and complementary commercial foodservice equipment brands into CFS Brands’ portfolio to broaden product capabilities and deepen its front- and back-of-house offering.
