GTCR Acquires Controlling Stake in Consumer Cellular

GTCR has agreed to acquire a majority interest in Consumer Cellular, the U.S. wireless provider focused on customers 50+, in a transaction expected to close by the end of 2020. Founder and CEO John Marick will retire but remain a board member and shareholder; GTCR said it will invest to continue the company’s growth while Consumer Cellular retains its offices and nearly 2,000 employees.

T-Mobile Acquires UScellular's Wireless Operations

T-Mobile US, Inc. has completed the acquisition of substantially all of UScellular's wireless operations and specified spectrum assets for approximately $4.3 billion after adjustments, consisting of $2.6 billion in cash and about $1.7 billion in assumed debt. The deal (closed August 1, 2025) adds roughly 4.4 million customers, ~4,400 towers and valuable low-band spectrum to T‑Mobile’s network while Array Digital Infrastructure (formerly UScellular) will retain a large tower portfolio and certain spectrum holdings.
