Ampaire Acquires Magpie Aviation

Hybrid-electric propulsion developer Ampaire has acquired California-based aero tow startup Magpie Aviation. Ampaire said it will integrate Magpie's electric aero-tow concept and continue development under Magpie's existing contract with the U.S. Air Force (AFWERX Agility Prime), expanding Ampaire's capabilities for defense and advanced air mobility applications.

Surf Air Mobility Acquires Southern Airways

Surf Air Mobility completed its acquisition of Southern Airways on July 27, 2023, creating what the company calls the largest commuter airline in the United States by scheduled departures. The deal combines Surf Air's regional air mobility platform with Southern's network to support nationwide expansion and accelerate Surf Air's plans for hybrid- and fully-electric powertrain adoption.

Electra.aero Acquires Airflow.aero

Advanced Energy Industries Acquires Airity Technologies

Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. acquired Airity Technologies, a Redwood City, California provider of GaN-based high-voltage power conversion products and pulsing technologies. The acquisition adds Gallium Nitride (GaN) power conversion capabilities to Advanced Energy's precision power portfolio, enabling higher power density and faster response for semiconductor, industrial and medical applications; terms were not disclosed.

Amca Acquires Electrocube

Amca, an El Segundo–based aerospace and defense company, has acquired Electrocube of Pomona, California from two of the founding families. The deal adds flight‑critical power electronics (transformers, TRUs, capacitors, EMI filters) to Amca’s capabilities; Shedd Capital advised, and Amca plans to invest in engineering and product expansion to strengthen the aerospace supply chain.
