Tilray Brands Acquires Eight Beer and Beverage Brands from Anheuser‑Busch

Tilray Brands, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire eight beer and beverage brands (including associated employees, breweries and brewpubs) from Anheuser‑Busch. The deal covers Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point, 10 Barrel, Redhook, Widmer Brothers, Square Mile Cider Company and HiBall Energy and is expected to close in 2023, significantly expanding Tilray’s U.S. beverage footprint and production capacity.

Carlsberg Group Acquires Waterloo Brewing

The Carlsberg Group completed its acquisition of Waterloo Brewing Ltd., finalised on March 7, 2023, following shareholder approval. The all-cash transaction (C$144 million) brings Waterloo's Kitchener brewing and RTD production capabilities into Carlsberg's portfolio to accelerate growth in the Canadian market and produce some Carlsberg brands locally.

Sapporo U.S.A. Acquires Stone Brewing

Sapporo U.S.A. has agreed to acquire Stone Brewing, combining Sapporo's U.S. business with one of America's largest craft brewers. The deal (expected to close in August 2022) gives Sapporo bi-coastal brewing capacity at Stone's Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia breweries and lets Stone continue operating its taprooms and breweries under existing branding and management.

Ackley Brands Acquires Mac & Jack's Brewing Company

Family-owned Ackley Brands of Seattle has acquired Mac & Jack's Brewing Company, a 30-year-old craft brewery based in Redmond, Washington. The founders, Mac Rankin and Jack Schropp, will retain leadership/consulting roles and the existing brewery team will remain in place as Ackley integrates the brand into its Pacific Northwest beverage portfolio.

Seattle Hospitality Group Acquires Controlling Stake in Fremont Brewing

Seattle Hospitality Group (SHG) has acquired a controlling interest in Fremont Brewing, bringing the craft brewer under the same umbrella as Pike Brewing. The founders will remain involved, production facilities will stay separate and there are no immediate staffing changes; SHG said it will provide resources to accelerate Fremont's growth plans.

Wilding Brands Acquires Great Divide Brewing Co.

Wilding Brands, a Lafayette, Colorado-based family of beverage brands, has acquired Great Divide Brewing Co., adding the heritage Denver brewery and its taprooms to Wilding’s growing portfolio. Wilding will operate Great Divide’s wholesale business and manage future taproom developments while shifting production to its Canworks facility in Denver.
