The Stephens Group, a private investment firm, has acquired Sound Seal Holdings, Inc., an Agawam, Massachusetts-based manufacturer of acoustical noise control products. Hamilton Robinson Capital Partners sold its investment in Sound Seal; the Stephens Group said the acquisition will support Sound Seal's organic and acquisitive growth under its existing management team.

Sound Seal Acquires Noise Barriers, LLC

Noise Barriers will operate as a stand-alone division of Sound Seal to expand Sound Seal's product portfolio and sales reach in the acoustical noise-control market; the company's founder will remain on as an adviser.

TA Associates to Acquire Surfaces Group from Astorg

TA Associates has signed a binding agreement to acquire Surfaces Group, the Italy-headquartered global supplier of abrasive tools and consumables, from private equity firm Astorg. Surfaces Group, based in Cenate Sotto, Italy, generates over €100 million in sales, employs more than 500 people across 13 production plants and multiple international subsidiaries, and the deal is expected to close in Q4 2020 subject to customary conditions.

Solotech Acquires Pro Sound, Inc.

Catalyst Acoustics Group, a platform company backed by The Stephens Group, acquired Fräsch, a Texas-based maker of polyester acoustic wall and ceiling products. The deal adds polyester-based acoustic panels, baffles, partitions and acoustic lighting to Catalyst’s portfolio to broaden product offerings and technical expertise while Fräsch’s founders and employees remain with the business.
