EQT Infrastructure to Acquire KJ Environment in South Korea

EQT Infrastructure VI has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire KJ Environment and affiliated companies to build an end-to-end waste treatment platform in South Korea focused on plastic recycling and waste-to-energy. The platform will leverage assets in the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area and is intended to support a scaled and diversified circular economy infrastructure business. Closing is expected in Q4 2024, subject to customary conditions and approvals.

The deal, unanimously approved by Covanta’s board, will be financed by EQT Infrastructure V and is expected to close by year-end; EQT said it plans to invest in operational, digital and sustainability initiatives to grow Covanta's waste processing, energy production and metals recycling businesses.
