Tex-Tech Industries Acquires Fiber Materials Inc. from Spirit AeroSystems for $165M

Spirit AeroSystems has sold its Fiber Materials Inc. (FMI) business to Tex‑Tech Industries, Inc. for $165 million in cash. FMI — a supplier of high‑temperature carbon/carbon and ceramic matrix composites with facilities in Biddeford, Maine and Woonsocket, Rhode Island and roughly 400 employees — supplies materials for defense and NASA programs; Tex‑Tech said the acquisition expands its thermally protective materials capabilities for aerospace, defense and space markets.

The add-on expands Fralock's engineered materials and electronics capabilities, adds about 160 employees and a 63,000 sq. ft. facility, and strengthens exposure to defense & aerospace, medical device, industrial/telecom and semiconductor end markets.

The acquisition, which closed on December 24, 2020, expands STC’s technical ceramics and sealing capabilities to enable vertical integration and deeper customer relationships across aerospace, defense, medical and instrumentation end markets; CriticalPoint acted as buy-side advisor to STC.
