Guinta's Owner Rob Passio Acquires Lombardi's Prime Meats

Lombardi's Prime Meats, a family-owned butcher shop in South Philadelphia, has been sold to Rob Passio, owner of Giunta's Prime Shop at Reading Terminal Market. The transaction, brokered by Nancy Alperin of Maxwell Realty Co. Inc., will keep Lombardi's traditional offerings while enabling integration of some Giunta's products and continuity for customers.

Dutch private equity firm Parcom Private Equity has agreed to acquire the majority stake in Group of Butchers from funds advised by Equistone Partners Europe. Group of Butchers, headquartered in Tilburg, Netherlands, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of artisanal meat products (about 900 employees; ~€280m revenue forecast for 2020); Parcom intends to support further buy-and-build expansion and broaden the company’s customer and product portfolio. The financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is subject to competition approval.

Premium Brands Holdings Corporation completed the acquisitions of NSP Quality Meats, Casa Di Bertacchi and Italia Salami for a total purchase price of US$66.0 million (US$50.0 million cash, US$10.0 million common shares and US$6.0 million contingent consideration). The three businesses have combined annual sales of approximately US$200 million and will add cooked-protein and cured-meat production capacity to Premium Brands' Specialty Foods Group; the company also completed a US$68.0 million sale-and-leaseback of an expanded Hempler's production facility.
