NXMH, a Belgium-based family-owned investment firm, has acquired Whitebridge Pet Brands, a St. Louis-based maker of natural and minimally processed pet foods, treats and supplements. Whitebridge was previously a portfolio company of Frontenac; the acquisition is expected to expand NXMH's international petfood footprint and accelerate product innovation and distribution growth. Terms were not disclosed.

Terms were not disclosed; the deal expands Whitebridge’s portfolio into the pet supplements category and combines Grizzly’s operations in Washington and Denmark with Whitebridge’s distribution and brand platform.

Whitebridge Pet Brands Acquires Cardinal Pet Care

Whitebridge Pet Brands, a PE-backed pet food and treats platform, has completed the acquisition of Cardinal Pet Care, the owner of brands including Pet Botanics and Crazy Dog. The deal (terms undisclosed) expands Whitebridge's portfolio in training treats and complementary pet health products and will be integrated into its existing branded platform backed by Frontenac.

General Mills Acquires Tyson Foods' Pet Treats Business

General Mills completed the purchase of Tyson Foods’ pet treats business for $1.2 billion in cash, acquiring the Nudges, Top Chews and True Chews brands and a manufacturing facility in Independence, Iowa. The pet treats portfolio generated more than $240 million in net sales for the 12 months ended April 3, 2021; General Mills said the acquisition complements its BLUE pet food portfolio and supports its portfolio reshaping strategy.
