Harbor Health Acquires 32 VillageMD Clinics Across Texas

Harbor Health, an Austin-based primary and specialty care clinic group and insurance company, is acquiring 32 clinics from VillageMD, expanding its Texas footprint into San Antonio, El Paso and Dallas. The deal increases Harbor Health’s clinic count from 11 to 43, adds more than 80 clinicians, and supports expansion of its integrated care-and-insurance offerings across the state.

Walgreens Boots Alliance will invest $3.5 billion and will remain the largest shareholder, while Evernorth (an affiliate of Cigna) will take a minority ownership position in the combined company. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023.
