Dunes Point Capital Acquires Majority Interest in Eastern Communications

Dunes Point Capital, LP acquired a majority interest in Eastern Communications, Ltd., a national distributor and technical service provider of mission‑critical communication devices and network infrastructure for public safety agencies. The investment is led by Dunes Point Capital Fund III with co-investors including funds managed by Partners Capital and debt financing from Audax Private Debt, TPG Twin Brook and Manulife; Eastern is headquartered in Queens, New York and employs approximately 200 people.

Bridgepointe Technologies Acquires Cannon Group

Bridgepointe Technologies has acquired Cannon Group, a provider of technology lifecycle management, telecom/expense management, strategic sourcing and transition management services. The acquisition (an add-on to Bridgepointe, a portfolio company of Charlesbank Capital Partners) expands Bridgepointe's capabilities and geographic coverage in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest and adds roughly a 46–50 person professional services team.

Summit Broadband Acquires NexGen Connected Communities

Summit Broadband, a Grain Management portfolio company, has acquired NexGen Connected Communities to expand its residential and commercial broadband portfolio in Florida. NexGen, founded in 2015, provides fiber‑optic internet, VoIP and television solutions to multi‑tenant residential communities; Summit said it will integrate its products and technology to broaden service speeds and offerings for NexGen customers.

CCi Voice Acquires IP Genie to Expand Northeast Footprint and Municipal Capabilities

CCi Voice, a Redding, Connecticut-based provider of cloud-based voice and unified communications solutions, has acquired IP Genie, a South Windsor phone service company serving municipalities, schools, libraries, nonprofits and businesses across Connecticut. The deal brings IP Genie’s president and seven team members into CCi Voice, adds VoIP/UC capabilities and a no-bid state contract for municipal purchases, and expands CCi Voice’s offerings to include video surveillance and access control.

Grain Management Acquires Majority Interest in Summit Broadband from Cable Bahamas Ltd.

Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm Grain Management, LLC acquired a majority interest in Summit Vista, Inc. (dba Summit Broadband) from Cable Bahamas Ltd. Summit Broadband is a fiber-optic telecommunications provider serving residential, business and carrier customers across central and southwest Florida. The deal closed in January 2020 after being announced in August 2019; financial terms were not disclosed.

Ciena Acquires Tibit Communications and Benu Networks

Ciena Corporation has agreed to acquire the remaining shares of Tibit Communications and has completed the acquisition of Benu Networks, strengthening its broadband access portfolio. The deals add PON hardware capabilities from Tibit and cloud-native subscriber management and vBNG software from Benu, bringing a combined team of ~60+ engineers to advance Ciena's access and edge solutions.
