Ennis, Inc. Acquires Operating Assets of UMC Print

Ennis, Inc. (NYSE: EBF) announced the acquisition of the operating assets of UMC Print in Overland Park, Kansas. UMC Print, a trade-only sheet-fed commercial printer founded in 1936, will continue operating at its current location as Ennis expands its locations and printing capabilities to better serve distributor partners.

Ennis said the acquisition will expand its product capabilities and enhance its printed media and labeling offerings to customers and distributors across multiple end markets.

(NYSE: EBF), a Midlothian, Texas-based printed products manufacturer, has acquired School Photo Marketing, a Morganville, New Jersey company that provides printing, yearbook publishing and marketing services to over 1,400 school and sports photographers. Ennis said the acquisition expands its reach into the school/sports photography channel and will leverage Ennis’ manufacturing operations to service the new customers; School Photo Marketing will continue to operate from its current locations.

Color Craft was a portfolio company of First Capital Partners and was advised by Mesirow; the acquisition adds ~120 employees and expands PaperWorks' integrated folding carton network and mill alignment across North America.

Italian decorative laminate manufacturer Abet Laminati has acquired Fiberesin Industries, Inc., a U.S.-based maker of solid phenolic panels and laminated products. The deal gives Abet a U.S. manufacturing platform and is expected to enable product cross-selling, shared R&D and complementary sales channels between the businesses.
