Luminar Technologies Acquires OptoGration Inc.

Luminar Technologies has acquired its exclusive InGaAs photodetector design partner and specialized fabrication partner, OptoGration Inc., securing chip IP and production capacity to support series production of its Iris lidar sensor. The deal brings OptoGration’s founders into Luminar, secures roughly one million InGaAs chips per year capacity (expandable), and deepens integration with Luminar’s Black Forest Engineering assets to accelerate production and reduce costs.

General Atomics (GA-EMS) Acquires MLD Technologies, LLC

General Atomics has acquired the business of MLD Technologies, LLC and will integrate it into General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS). The purchase brings MLD's expertise in ion-beam-sputtered optical coatings and laser-damage resistant thin-films into GA-EMS to support development and production of high-power laser weapon systems.

Quantum Computing Inc. Acquires Luminar Semiconductor, Inc. for $110M

Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) completed an all-cash acquisition of Luminar Semiconductor, Inc. (LSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Luminar Technologies, in a transaction valued at $110 million. The deal brings LSI’s lasers, detectors, advanced packaging, and manufacturing capabilities into QCi’s thin-film lithium niobate photonics platform to create a vertically integrated, domestically manufactured photonics and quantum technology offering and to strengthen near-term revenue and defense/aerospace market access.

Garmin Acquires Lumishore

Garmin Ltd. has acquired Lumishore, a Swansea-based designer and manufacturer of high-performance above- and underwater LED lighting systems for boats. The acquisition adds premium marine LED lighting to Garmin's marine product portfolio and integrates Lumishore's R&D and production associates into Garmin's global workforce; financial terms were not disclosed.

LightPath Technologies Acquires G5 Infrared

LightPath Technologies, Inc. agreed to acquire G5 Infrared, LLC for $27.0 million in a cash-and-stock transaction (with potential performance-based consideration) to create a vertically integrated infrared imaging solutions provider. G5, a Hudson, New Hampshire-based maker of high-end cooled infrared camera systems with preliminary 2024 revenue of at least $15 million, will expand LightPath's product portfolio and accelerate revenue growth; the combined company is expected to achieve at least $55 million in revenue in the 12 months following closing.

Luna Innovations Acquires General Photonics

Luna Innovations Incorporated acquired General Photonics Corporation, a Chino, California-based provider of polarization management components, modules and optical test equipment, for $20 million (including up to $1 million earnout). The purchase expands Luna's Lightwave division and strengthens its communications test product portfolio by adding complementary measurement and polarization control capabilities and vertical integration synergies.
