MPE Partners and its portfolio company Appearance Technology Group (ATG) have acquired P&S Detail Products, a Hayward, California–based designer and manufacturer of branded car care liquids for professional and DIY users. The add-on deal brings P&S's cleaners, polishes, waxes and coatings into the ATG portfolio to accelerate product breadth, geographic reach and shared capabilities; financing was provided by Apogem Capital.

Appearance Technology Group (ATG), a portfolio company of MPE Partners, has acquired BAF Industries, the maker of the PRO branded car-care liquids and specialty aerosols. The add-on deal expands ATG's brand portfolio and adds an east-coast manufacturing and distribution facility in Florence, KY to support broader distribution to professional and DIY end users.

American Industrial Partners Acquires PPG's U.S. & Canadian Architectural Coatings Business (Pittsburgh Paints Co.)

American Industrial Partners (AIP) completed the acquisition of PPG's U.S. and Canadian architectural coatings business for $550 million and has renamed the business The Pittsburgh Paints Company. The newly independent company — a top-three producer of interior and exterior paints, stains, caulks, adhesives and sealants with more than 6,000 employees and 750 company-owned stores — will operate as a focused platform serving professional and DIY end markets across the U.S. and Canada.

Valence Surface Technologies Acquires B&M Painting

Valence Surface Technologies, a PE-backed aerospace surface-finishing platform, has acquired B&M Painting, a Camden, Arkansas-based metal finishing and specialty coatings provider serving aerospace and defense primes. The deal—Valence's tenth add-on since formation and supported by majority owners ATL Partners and BCI—adds regional defense-focused coating capabilities while retaining B&M's existing management and workforce.

PaintWell (Cairngorm Capital) Acquires Kent Blaxill

Cairngorm Capital-backed PaintWell Limited has acquired Kent Blaxill Group Limited, adding 23 branches and extending PaintWell’s branch network across the East of England and the South East. The enlarged group will operate 46 branches with c.250 employees and combined revenues of £55m; members of the Kent and Blaxill families are exiting but reinvesting and Kent Blaxill’s management will remain.

The Protech Group Acquires MF Paints Inc.

Montreal-based The Protech Group has acquired 100% of MF Paints Inc., a Laval, Quebec manufacturer and distributor of architectural paints and stains, with the transaction effective October 7, 2023. Protech said it will leverage its purchasing, technical and manufacturing capabilities to expand MF Paints' product offerings and strengthen its presence in the Canadian retail and commercial building paints market; the Morello family and MF Paints shareholders sold the company.
