Connect Bidco (Apax, Warburg Pincus, CPP, Ontario Teachers') Acquires Inmarsat

Connect Bidco Limited, an acquisition vehicle owned by a consortium of funds advised by Apax Partners and Warburg Pincus together with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, completed a recommended cash offer to acquire all issued ordinary share capital of Inmarsat. The consortium said the investment will support Inmarsat’s market leadership in maritime, aviation and defence communications and help the company capitalise on in-flight connectivity and Internet of Things opportunities.

Intelsat agreed to acquire the commercial aviation business of Gogo for $400 million in cash, combining Intelsat's global satellite network with Gogo's installed base of more than 3,000 commercial aircraft. The deal (approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia) is intended to expand Intelsat's in-flight broadband capabilities and deliver integrated IFEC solutions to airlines and passengers.
