WANRack, a national fiber infrastructure provider backed by CBRE Investment Management, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JMZ Corporation d/b/a KwiKom Communications. KwiKom — a Kansas-based operator of fiber optic and fixed wireless broadband serving parts of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska — will continue operating under its brand; the deal is expected to close in Q1 2023 subject to customary approvals.

Lightpath Acquires WANRack's Phoenix Network Assets

Lightpath has acquired WANRack’s network assets and customers in Phoenix, Arizona, adding 133 miles of fiber and bringing Lightpath’s Phoenix footprint to 363 miles. The deal expands Lightpath’s presence in the Phoenix market as it builds a 230-mile network; WANRack is majority‑owned by CBRE Investment Management and is headquartered in the Kansas City metro area.

Gateway Fiber Merges with WANRack and KWIKOM, Unifying Operations Under Gateway Fiber

Gateway Fiber announced a merger with E‑Rate provider WANRack and consumer broadband provider KWIKOM, consolidating the three businesses to operate under the Gateway Fiber brand. WANRack's E‑Rate services will continue as “WANRack powered by Gateway Fiber” through the end of 2025 while the companies integrate to expand residential, business, enterprise, and education broadband offerings.

CBRE Investment Management Acquires Gateway Fiber from Crosstimbers Capital Group

A fund sponsored by CBRE Investment Management has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gateway Fiber, a Wright City, Missouri-based fiber-to-the-home provider, from Crosstimbers Capital Group. CBRE IM said the acquisition will expand its private infrastructure portfolio and enable integration with its middle-mile portfolio company WANRack to accelerate broadband deployment in underserved communities; the deal is expected to close in February 2023 pending regulatory approvals.

CBRE Caledon Acquires Majority Stake in CitySwitch Tower Holdings

CBRE Caledon Capital Management has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority equity interest in CitySwitch Tower Holdings, a build-to-suit wireless tower developer and operator, from funds managed by American Infrastructure Funds LLC and other shareholders. The investment (made on behalf of a CBRE Caledon fund and a separately managed account) will support CitySwitch's expansion of its tower portfolio and build-to-suit pipeline across the eastern United States.

Ribbon Communications Acquires Edgewater Networks

Ribbon Communications has signed an agreement to acquire Edgewater Networks, a provider of Network Edge Orchestration and SD-WAN/edge devices, for an aggregate purchase price of $110 million in cash, deferred payments and stock. The deal expands Ribbon’s core-to-edge portfolio (including SBCs, SD-WAN and analytics), is expected to be immediately accretive, and positions Ribbon as a market leader in enterprise Session Border Controllers and network edge orchestration.
