Newsela has acquired Schoolytics, an analytics and AI platform that consolidates K–12 student data for districts, to integrate student-data dashboards and workflows across its instructional and assessment products. Financial terms were not disclosed; Newsela plans to embed Schoolytics with its Formative assessment offering and other products to streamline MTSS/RTI workflows and extend AI-driven insights.

Summit Partners Leads $70M Minority Growth Investment in Formative

Summit Partners led a $70 million minority growth investment in Formative, a SaaS-based K–12 student data and assessment platform, with participation from Emerson Collective, Fika Ventures, MaC/Mac Ventures and Rethink Education. The capital will fund product expansion, increased teacher and administrator support, and international growth while Summit’s Tom Jennings joins Formative’s board.

GoGuardian Acquires Edulastic to Add Formative Assessment Capabilities

GoGuardian has acquired Edulastic, a next-generation K-12 online assessment platform, to integrate standards-aligned formative assessments into its K-12 digital learning suite. The deal was led by GoGuardian with participation from Sumeru Equity Partners; Edulastic was previously backed by Primera Capital and will expand GoGuardian's instructional capabilities across its large K-12 customer base.

XanEdu Acquires NextLesson

XanEdu, a Frontenac-backed educational products and services company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has acquired NextLesson, a San Francisco–based provider of Common Core–aligned K–12 courseware and digital lessons. The acquisition expands XanEdu's digital courseware capabilities and integrates NextLesson's LMS-enabled content and grading automation into XanEdu's customized content and delivery offerings for K-12 and higher education.
