An affiliate of Balmoral Funds LLC acquired Sensata Technologies' Insights business unit and rebranded it as Xirgo Technologies, establishing the unit as an independent IoT and telematics company. Balmoral will invest in R&D and market expansion while appointing IoT veteran Chris Wolfe as CEO to drive growth in IoT and AI video markets; Xirgo supports over 900 channel partners and deploys more than 1.6 million devices per year.

Sensata Technologies Acquires SmartWitness

Sensata Technologies has acquired SmartWitness Holdings, Inc., a provider of video telematics hardware, software and analytics for commercial fleets, to expand Sensata Insights’ video-based data and safety capabilities. Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal was expected to close in Q4 2021 and adds SmartWitness’s ~85 employees and more than 250,000 deployed devices to Sensata’s fleet solutions portfolio.

Carrier Global Corporation, through its Sensitech business, completed the acquisition of the Monitoring Solutions business of Swiss family-owned Berlinger & Co. AG. The acquisition (about 85 employees across Switzerland, the Netherlands and the U.S.) expands Sensitech’s cold-chain monitoring portfolio with Berlinger’s conventional and real-time monitoring devices plus software and analytics, broadening reach into stationary monitoring and global health segments.
