Dallas-based Braemont Capital has made a strategic growth investment in Royal Cup Coffee & Tea, a nearly 130-year-old Birmingham roaster and distributor. The partnership will provide capital and operational support to expand Royal Cup's roasting and distribution capabilities and strengthen its presence across hospitality, foodservice, healthcare and convenience channels.

Gala Capital Acquires Dunn Brothers Coffee

Gala Capital, led by Anand Gala, acquired Dunn Brothers Coffee, a 59-unit, 100% franchised coffee chain founded in 1987. The deal closed in June with Gala Capital taking control July 1; Dunn Brothers' leadership, including President Kim Plahn, will remain in place as Gala plans to grow the brand via catering, third-party delivery, e-commerce and store expansion.

TreeHouse Foods Acquires Harris Tea Business for Approximately $205 Million

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain subsidiaries operating the private brand tea business of Harris Freeman & Co (Harris Tea) for approximately $205 million. The deal includes Harris Tea’s manufacturing facilities in Moorestown, New Jersey and Marietta, Georgia, and is expected to be margin-accretive and provide vertical integration into TreeHouse’s tea business. TreeHouse later completed the acquisition for approximately $205 million.

FairWave Acquires Up Coffee Roasters

Kansas City-based FairWave Holdings LLC has acquired Minneapolis-based Up Coffee Roasters, bringing the local roaster into its specialty coffee collective. Up Coffee will continue to operate locally under owner David Chall (who becomes an investor in FairWave), retain its employees, and gain access to FairWave's marketing, technology and best practices.

Keurig Dr Pepper to Acquire JDE Peet's and Split Into Global Coffee Co. and Beverage Co.

Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JDE Peet's in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately €15.7 billion (about $18 billion) and then plans to separate the combined business into two independent, U.S.-listed companies. The future companies are planned as Global Coffee Co. (pure-play coffee) and Beverage Co. (North American refreshment beverages).

FreshBrew Group Acquires Branded Coffee Division of White Coffee Corp

Houston-based FreshBrew Group has acquired the Branded Coffee licensed division of Long Island City–based White Coffee Corp. The transaction transfers the nation's largest portfolio of licensed bagged coffee and K-Cup products to FreshBrew, expanding its roasting, liquid production and branded-manufacturing capabilities; senior members of the White family will join FreshBrew's executive team to lead the transition.
