The New York Times Company has entered into an agreement to acquire The Athletic, a global digital subscription sports media business, for an all-cash purchase price of $550 million (subject to customary closing adjustments). The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, and The Athletic will continue to operate separately as a subsidiary of The Times Company.
