Trinity Industries, Inc. has acquired Quasar Platform Inc., an end-to-end rail logistics software platform, from Cando Rail & Terminals Ltd. The purchase, which closed on May 26, enhances Trinity’s Trinsight digital product suite by adding yard management, activity-based costing and new data visualization capabilities; Trinity will retain Quasar’s employees.

Trinity Industries, Inc. acquired Holden America for an initial purchase price of $70 million plus a minimum of $5 million per year for the next two years. Holden America manufactures multi-level vehicle securement and protection systems, gravity-outlet gates and gate accessories for freight rail; the deal adds a market-leading bi-level chock system to Trinity's autorack product portfolio and expands its higher-margin aftermarket parts exposure. The acquisition closed on December 30, 2022, and Trinity will retain all Holden employees.

Navis (Cargotec) Acquires Assets of Biarri Rail

Navis, part of Cargotec Corporation, agreed to acquire the assets of Biarri Rail, a Melbourne-based provider of planning and scheduling optimization software for freight railroads. The acquisition integrates Biarri Rail's SaaS planning and optimization capabilities with Navis' N4 Terminal Operating System to expand Navis' inland/intermodal rail solutions and improve rail operations and asset utilization. The Biarri Rail team will continue operating from Melbourne and Chicago; the deal was expected to close by end of February 2020.
