Howden Group Acquires Spencer Turbine

Howden Group has acquired The Spencer Turbine Company, a Windsor, Connecticut-based manufacturer of vacuum systems, gas pressure boosters and industrial blowers. The acquisition expands Howden’s product capabilities in industrial and wastewater treatment markets and provides Spencer Turbine access to Howden’s global distribution network to accelerate growth in North America, China, South America and Europe.

KPS Capital Partners has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Howden from Colfax Corporation for an enterprise value of $1.80 billion (approximately $1.66 billion cash plus $0.14 billion in assumed liabilities and minority interest). Howden, headquartered in Glasgow, United Kingdom, is a global manufacturer and service provider of mission-critical air and gas handling equipment with more than 5,300 employees and a presence in 32 countries. KPS said it will support Howden's transformation and growth through investments in R&D, technology and strategic acquisitions.
