NIU Group Acquires Chile's Minera Tres Valles

Austrian investor Cevdet Caner, through NIU Group, has acquired Chilean copper producer Minera Tres Valles (MTV). NIU Group plans to invest to ramp up production (from ~5,000 tpa to 13,000–15,000 tpa by 2026), expand exploration, and grow the workforce to over 750 direct employees while complying with Chilean environmental and regulatory requirements.

Critical Metals holds a 70% interest in the Molulu cobalt and copper project near Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo; NIU said it will develop the project and expand its mining portfolio across multiple regions.

Boliden Acquires Somincor (Neves-Corvo) and Zinkgruvan from Lundin Mining

Boliden completed the acquisition of the Somincor (Neves-Corvo) copper and zinc mine in Portugal and the Zinkgruvan zinc mine in Sweden from Lundin Mining on April 16, 2025. The cash consideration was USD 1.40 billion (USD 1.30 billion enterprise value plus up to USD 150 million contingent payments); the deal was financed with a bridge loan and a directed share issue that raised ~SEK 3.75 billion. The acquisition nearly doubles Boliden's zinc concentrate production and significantly strengthens its copper concentrate output.

Golden Minerals Company sold its wholly owned Mexican subsidiary Minera de Cordilleras, S. de R.L. de C.V. to a privately held Mexican company for US$600,000. The April 1, 2025 agreement transferred Minera Cordilleras' capital contribution accounts (CUCAs), net operating losses and five Mexican mining concessions; Golden Minerals said all funds related to the sale have been received.
