May River Capital, a Chicago-based private equity firm, has acquired PaperTech, a Findlay, Ohio manufacturer of sustainable, dual-ovenable paperboard trays and bowls serving the frozen food and foodservice markets. PaperTech has nearly 200 employees and produces over 500 million trays annually; founder Larry Epstein will retire (remaining a shareholder) while co-founder Al Fotheringham will remain as a shareholder and continue as Chief Development Officer.

Royal Paper (backed by Gridiron Capital) Acquires Sun Paper Company

Arizona-based Royal Paper, backed by private equity firm Gridiron Capital, has acquired Sun Paper Company, a Duncan, South Carolina-based manufacturer of bath, towel, napkin and facial tissue. The acquisition expands Royal Paper's national footprint and manufacturing capacity, creating a larger private-label and sustainable tissue platform serving retail and away-from-home customers.

H.I.G. Capital Acquires Jackson Paper Manufacturing and Sustainable Corrugated

H.I.G. Capital has completed the acquisition of Jackson Paper Manufacturing and Sustainable Corrugated (JPM). JPM, headquartered in Sylva, North Carolina, is a vertically integrated manufacturer of 100% recycled corrugated packaging operating four facilities and employing more than 200 people; H.I.G. will partner with management to accelerate the company's growth and expand its sustainable packaging capabilities.

The add-on expands PaperTech’s tray product lineup and adds susceptor-enabled cooking-performance technologies to broaden its sustainable packaging offering for food processors, distributors and foodservice operators.
