Pfingsten, an operationally focused private equity firm, acquired Pacific Lasertec, a San Marcos-based manufacturer of specialty lasers and related power supplies, as a new platform investment on August 25, 2023. Pfingsten said it will work with PLT's management team to scale the business organically and through strategic add-on acquisitions to build a leading photonics solutions provider serving medical diagnostics, semiconductor, scientific R&D and advanced manufacturing end markets.

Boston Scientific has agreed to acquire the Lumenis Surgical Business from Baring Private Equity Asia/Lumenis for USD 1.07 billion, subject to closing adjustments. The deal transfers Lumenis' surgical laser portfolio and global surgical team (including its Israeli laser center of excellence) to Boston Scientific to bolster its Urology strategy, while Lumenis — still owned by BPEA — will focus on Aesthetics and Vision.

Fotona is a leading medical laser and energy-based device manufacturer serving aesthetics, dental and gynaecology markets with direct sales in the US and China and distributors across 65+ countries, and the deal is intended to support further international expansion.
