Boehringer Ingelheim Acquires Nerio Therapeutics

Boehringer Ingelheim agreed to acquire Nerio Therapeutics, a San Diego-based preclinical biotech focused on PTPN2/N1 phosphatase inhibitors for immuno-oncology, for up to $1.3 billion. Nerio was invested/incubated by Viva BioInnovator and backed by a syndicate including Avalon Ventures; the deal is intended to accelerate development of Nerio’s preclinical program as a cornerstone of Boehringer’s immuno-oncology portfolio.

AbbVie Completes Acquisition of Nimble Therapeutics

AbbVie has completed its acquisition of Nimble Therapeutics, adding Nimble's investigational oral peptide IL23R inhibitor for psoriasis and a peptide synthesis, screening and optimization platform to AbbVie's immunology pipeline. The deal is intended to strengthen AbbVie's R&D capabilities and accelerate discovery and optimization of oral peptide therapeutics.

AbbVie Acquires Capstan Therapeutics

AbbVie has completed its acquisition of Capstan Therapeutics, adding Capstan's lead asset CPTX2309 — an in vivo targeted lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) anti‑CD19 CAR‑T candidate in Phase 1 for B cell‑mediated autoimmune diseases — and a proprietary tLNP RNA delivery platform. The deal strengthens AbbVie's immunology pipeline and expands its in vivo cell‑programming capabilities for RNA payload delivery.

Innova Therapeutics Acquires Enci Therapeutics

Innova Therapeutics has completed the acquisition of Enci Therapeutics, adding Enci’s lead oncology program, IVT-8086, a first-in-class humanized monoclonal antibody targeting SFRP2, to its development pipeline. Financial terms were not disclosed; Innova said the program and associated IP (patents through at least 2042) will support development across multiple solid and hematologic cancers and a companion diagnostic is in development.

BioNTech Acquires Neon Therapeutics

BioNTech SE will acquire Neon Therapeutics, Inc. in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $67.0 million. Neon, a Cambridge-based developer of neoantigen-targeted T cell therapies, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of BioNTech to expand BioNTech’s T cell therapy capabilities and U.S. presence.

Sorrento Therapeutics Acquires ACEA Therapeutics

Sorrento Therapeutics completed the acquisition of ACEA Therapeutics, making ACEA a wholly owned subsidiary and issuing Sorrento common stock plus contingent milestone and royalty payments. The deal adds multiple clinical- and preclinical-stage new chemical entities (including abivertinib) to Sorrento's oncology and immunotherapy pipeline and expands its development and manufacturing footprint in China and North America.
