GI Partners Acquires Vast Broadband

GI Partners, in partnership with industry veteran Rich Fish, has signed an agreement to acquire Vast Broadband, a Sioux Falls-based provider of gigabit broadband, video and phone services. Vast, currently owned by Pamlico Capital and Oak Hill Capital and serving over 60,000 residential and business customers across South Dakota and Minnesota, will be led by Rich Fish as incoming CEO with GI Partners investing from its Data Infrastructure Fund; the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm Grain Management, LLC acquired a majority interest in Summit Vista, Inc. (dba Summit Broadband) from Cable Bahamas Ltd. Summit Broadband is a fiber-optic telecommunications provider serving residential, business and carrier customers across central and southwest Florida. The deal closed in January 2020 after being announced in August 2019; financial terms were not disclosed.

Boston Omaha Corporation Acquires Assets of Utah Broadband, LLC

Boston Omaha Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary FIF Utah LLC, has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Utah Broadband, LLC for $21.6 million in cash plus a 20% membership interest in FIF Utah issued to Utah Broadband's CEO Steve McGhie. The transaction (expected to close within ~30 days subject to customary conditions) will leave Mr. McGhie with a 20% ownership stake and gives Boston Omaha an 80% initial stake as it plans significant capital investment to expand fiber-to-the-home service across the region.
