Belgium-based Materialise has acquired Identify3D, a San Francisco–based developer of software that encrypts, distributes, and traces digital manufacturing parts. The acquisition integrates Identify3D's data security and traceability capabilities into Materialise's CO-AM platform to strengthen security and enable more robust distributed manufacturing.

Capture 3D, headquartered in Santa Ana, California with ~100 employees and roughly $44 million in 2019 revenue, will join ZEISS' Industrial Quality Solutions business unit; financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is subject to regulatory approval.
