Capital Partners Acquires Majority Stake in Universal Woods

Capital Partners Private Equity Income Fund III, LP completed a majority-equity investment in Universal Woods on March 15, 2019, partnering with CEO and long-time shareholder Paul Neumann and management. The investment will provide Universal Woods — a Louisville-based manufacturer of hard-surface coated substrates for image sublimation and mezzanine decking — with additional resources to support growth, new product development and hiring; debt financing was provided by PNC.

U-C Coatings (High Road Capital Partners portfolio company) Acquires Eco Chemical

U-C Coatings, a portfolio company of High Road Capital Partners, acquired the assets of Eco Chemical, Inc., a Seattle-based maker of waterborne wood stains and industrial coatings; the deal closed on September 9, 2019. The acquisition expands U-C Coatings' product offerings into the pressure-treated lumber channel, deepens its presence on the U.S. West Coast, and was financed with support from Madison Capital; Eco Chemical founders also reinvested alongside High Road.

High Road Capital Partners Acquires U-C Coatings from Argosy Private Equity and Sidereal Capital Group

Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal positions High Road to support continued product development, channel expansion, and growth for U-C Coatings' branded offerings such as ANCHORSEAL, GEMPAINT and Seal-Once.

PRO-SET Formulated Resin Systems Acquires Universal Chemicals and Coatings, Inc.

PRO-SET Formulated Resin Systems, LLC (a holding of Iron Path Capital) has acquired Universal Chemicals and Coatings, Inc. (UNICHEM), a family-owned manufacturer of industrial coatings, laminating adhesives and container linings. The deal expands PRO-SET’s formulated coatings and laminating adhesive capabilities as an add-on to its growing resin systems platform; financial terms were not disclosed.

CRTS Global Acquires RAE Energy's Coatings Business

CRTS Global LLC, a portfolio company of Houston-based private equity firm Voyager Interests, has acquired RAE Energy's coatings business (RAE Coatings) to expand its external field joint coating capabilities and offer a complete internal and external pipeline field joint coating solution for offshore projects. RAE Energy sold the coatings business to focus on expanding its nondestructive testing capabilities through Prime Inspections and UT Quality.
