Hexagon AB has acquired Xwatch Safety Solutions to strengthen its digital construction safety portfolio. Xwatch provides OEM-agnostic machine control hardware and software (height control, slew control, rated capacity indication) and will be fully consolidated into Hexagon's Geosystem division; Xwatch generated ~4 MEUR revenue in 2023 and has 17 employees mainly in the United Kingdom.

Cadence Acquires Hexagon's Design & Engineering Business

Cadence Design Systems completed the acquisition of Hexagon AB's Design & Engineering (D&E) business for approximately €2.7 billion in cash and Cadence common stock. Hexagon received ~3.2 million Cadence shares (about 30% of consideration) with the remainder in cash; the D&E business contributed roughly €265 million of revenue in 2024 and the sale is expected to produce a ~€1.4 billion gain for Hexagon. The deal expands Cadence's capabilities in physical AI, multiphysics and system-level design and analysis.

Hexagon AB acquired ETQ, a Massachusetts-based provider of SaaS quality (QMS), EHS and compliance management software, for $1.2 billion in cash on a debt- and cash-free basis. ETQ—headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts with ~185 employees and expected 2022 revenue of ~$75M—will join Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division to accelerate Hexagon’s cloud journey and expand its quality-management capabilities across manufacturing and regulated industries.
