BigBear.ai has signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire Pangiam (Pangiam Intermediate Holdings, LLC) in an all-stock transaction valued at roughly $70 million, expected to close in Q1 2024. The deal combines Pangiam's facial recognition and biometric capabilities with BigBear.ai's computer vision and AI analytics to create a comprehensive Vision AI portfolio and expand the combined company's customer base into airlines, airports, identity-verification firms and additional U.S. government contracts.

Pangiam Acquires veriScan from Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority

Pangiam, a PE-backed identity-management and travel-security technology provider, acquired veriScan — an integrated biometric facial-recognition system developed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority — to expand its airport and airline biometrics offerings. The veriScan solution, which has been used by more than 40 airlines and processed over 1.3 million passengers, will be scaled through Pangiam's cloud-based platform; terms were not disclosed.

AE Industrial Partners Acquires Linkware and Pangiam, Forms Pangiam Travel & Security Platform

Apple acquired Israeli 3D-avatar specialist TrueMeeting (previously CommonGround AI) earlier in 2025 for an undisclosed amount, with the deal receiving Israeli competition approval in January 2025. TrueMeeting builds real‑time, smartphone face‑scanning technology for creating lifelike 3D avatars; the startup was founded by Amir Bassan‑Eskenazi and Rani Oz and had raised about US$45 million from investors including Grove Ventures and Matrix Partners.
