UTAC, LLC Acquires USA Truck from DSV

DSV has sold 100% of USA Truck to UTAC, LLC, a private Arkansas-based entity formed by current and former USA Truck leaders including CEO George Henry, former CFO Zachary King and former CEO James Reed. The deal returns the 42-year-old carrier to U.S.-based ownership; financial terms were not disclosed and DSV said the sale positions USA Truck for future growth under local management.

Schneider Acquires deBoer Transportation

Schneider has acquired Wisconsin-based regional carrier deBoer Transportation and will integrate its drivers and equipment to bolster Schneider’s Dedicated and Power Only operations. As part of the deal Schneider assumed ownership of roughly 160 tractors and 660 trailers; deBoer’s Blenker facility and a Dallas-area maintenance shop were excluded from the sale.

Schneider National Acquires Cowan Systems, LLC

Schneider National, Inc. agreed to acquire Cowan Systems, LLC and affiliated entities for approximately $390 million in cash, plus separate real estate purchases of about $31 million. The Baltimore-based dedicated contract carrier — which operates roughly 1,800 trucks and 7,500 trailers across 40+ Eastern and Mid‑Atlantic locations — will become a wholly owned subsidiary to expand Schneider's Dedicated capacity and capabilities.

TFI International Acquires Daseke for Approximately $1.1 Billion

TFI International completed its previously announced all-cash acquisition of Daseke, Inc. for $8.30 per share, valuing the transaction at approximately $1.1 billion. The deal closed in early April 2024 and Daseke will operate as part of TFI's Truckload segment; TFI also closed a $500 million term loan to support the transaction.

Werner Enterprises Acquires 80% Stake in ECM Transport Group

Werner Enterprises acquired an 80% equity stake in ECM Transport Group for $142.4 million, with an exclusive option to purchase the remaining 20% after five years. The deal adds nearly 500 trucks, 2,000 trailers and over 500 drivers to Werner's network, increasing its short-haul/regional truckload capabilities and expanding its presence in the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio and Northeast regions.

Knight-Swift Acquires U.S. Xpress Enterprises for ~$808M

Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings agreed to acquire U.S. Xpress Enterprises for a total enterprise value of approximately $808 million, paying $6.15 per share; the transaction was approved by shareholders and closed on July 1, 2023. U.S. Xpress will continue to operate as a separate brand, with the Fuller family rolling over a portion of their equity into an approximately 10% interest in a new Knight-Swift subsidiary holding the business.
