Dental Acquisitions in California

Viper Partners advised SF Dental Group on a transformative transaction with an unnamed strategic buyer to create a new dental platform in California. The deal combines SF Dental Group's five locations and 20 dentists with the buyer's operational resources to scale services and expand access to care across the state.

Straine Dental Management has acquired Regents Dental Group, a La Jolla-based dental practice led by Drs. Stephen Eskeland and Stephen Lockwood, expanding SDM's California footprint. Regents will join SDM's network and leverage the firm's technology ecosystem (including Overjet, Perio Protect, and Sunbit) while maintaining its comprehensive clinical services.

Golden Age Dental Care has acquired Oral Health Care, LLC to combine Golden Age's mobile dental services with Oral Health Care's virtual platform and expertise serving residents in skilled nursing facilities. The deal is intended to expand access to high-quality dental care for senior living communities and streamline operations by integrating Oral Health Care's in-house software. Keystone Business Advisors served as exclusive M&A advisor to Oral Health Care, LLC.

Espire Dental, a portfolio company of Rallyday Partners, has affiliated Los Gatos Dental Group, a single-location practice in Los Gatos, California. The deal brings the two-owner practice into Espire’s growing network as an add-on to expand its footprint and patient base in the region.

Frontier Dental Lab Group, a portfolio company of O2 Investment Partners, has rebranded as Denbright Dental Labs and consolidated seven dental laboratories (Frontier, NuArt, Burbank, Jason J. Kim Dental Aesthetics, D&S, Friendship, and Absolute Dental Services) into a single multi-site platform. The combined business—headquartered in El Dorado Hills, California—employs roughly 700 people across North America and will focus on digital workflow adoption, clinical education, and expanded prosthetics capabilities.

Gen4 Dental Partners, a Thurston Group portfolio company, has acquired Bay Area Dental, a multi-location dental practice with sites in Los Altos, Mountain View and Cupertino, California. The deal expands the Gen4 platform into the San Francisco Bay Area and adds clinical capabilities including implant, orthodontic and cosmetic dentistry.

Planet DDS, a provider of cloud-based dental practice management and imaging software, agreed to be recapitalized by Aquiline Capital Partners with existing investor Level Equity rolling a portion of its equity and investing additional capital. The recapitalization will fund Planet DDS's growth plans and accelerate product and market expansion; the transaction is expected to close in Q3 2022.

Frontier Dental Superholdings LLC partnered with and made an investment in Burbank Dental Laboratory, a full-service dental laboratory headquartered in Burbank, California. The deal is an add-on to Frontier’s multi-site dental lab platform (which is PE-backed by O2 Investment Partners); Burbank will continue to be led by President Tony Sedler, who will join Frontier’s board.

Beacon Oral Specialists, a PE-backed management services organization, entered strategic partnerships to affiliate Orange County Centers for Oral Surgery and Desert Oral Surgery, expanding Beacon's presence in Southern California. Beacon is a portfolio company of Blue Sea Capital and the agreements bring additional multi-location oral surgery practices into its network.

Western Dental & Orthodontics has acquired Salwan Dental Group, a single-office dental practice located at 2537 South Euclid Avenue in Ontario, California. Dr. Ranjeev Salwan will remain as the managing doctor, and the acquisition raises Western Dental's total California offices to 235 while expanding its network of services including general dentistry, orthodontics and oral surgery. The office will continue to serve Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) patients as part of Western Dental's affordable care network.
