HVAC & Mechanical Acquisitions in Arizona

Rite Way Heating, Cooling & Plumbing LLC has acquired the residential HVAC division of Berg Enterprises, Inc., which operates as Berg's Heating & Air Conditioning, to expand Rite Way’s presence in Cochise County, Arizona. The acquisition transfers Berg's residential remodel, service, and maintenance business lines to Rite Way while Berg Enterprises retains its commercial and federal operations to focus on B2B construction work.

Daikin Applied announced a majority investment in Varitec Solutions, a Phoenix-based designer, developer and installer of large-scale, energy-efficient HVAC systems. The deal brings Varitec's ~170 employees into the Daikin Group to expand Daikin's end-to-end HVAC capabilities and service footprint across the U.S. Southwest while Varitec's president, Chris Carlson, will continue to lead the business.

Thermogenics, a North American provider of boiler lifecycle solutions, has acquired High Desert Mechanical, an Apache Junction, Arizona-based boiler service company. The acquisition marks Thermogenics' first location in the Western United States and expands its service capabilities across industrial and commercial end markets including healthcare, mining, food & beverage and manufacturing.

A1 Garage Door Service has acquired Ideal Garage Doors, a family-owned garage door repair and replacement business serving the greater Phoenix area. The deal adds Ideal’s multi-location operations in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert and Carefree to A1’s existing regional footprint and will begin operating under the A1 brand in August.

An affiliate of Paceline Equity Partners has provided a $50 million investment to Kelso Industries, a portfolio company of Oxbow Equity Partners and Peterson Partners. The capital will be used by Kelso to fund acquisitions of complementary HVACR and mechanical building services businesses as it pursues inorganic growth. Kelso provides installation and maintenance services for HVACR, plumbing and process piping systems and is based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Lovett Inc., a Portland-based construction services provider, has acquired Fayette Air Conditioning & Sheet Metal, Inc., a Lake Havasu City HVAC and sheet metal fabrication company. The acquisition extends Lovett’s geographic reach into Arizona and expands its HVAC and sheet metal capabilities while the Fayette founders transition ownership to Lovett.

Cortec Group (via Cortec VII), in partnership with A1 founder and CEO Tommy Mello and management, completed a growth recapitalization of A1 Garage Door Service Holdings, Inc. on December 22, 2022. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and serving 25 U.S. markets, A1 will leverage Cortec's residential services experience and capital to continue organic growth and pursue acquisitions; terms were not disclosed.

HomeServe USA has acquired Sure Temp Air Conditioning LLC, a Mesa, Arizona–based residential HVAC provider. The small, highly rated company (just over 20 employees) will continue operating under HomeServe’s ownership with former owner Keith Rozelle remaining on staff as General Manager.

Therma Holdings, a Blackstone portfolio company, has acquired Phoenix-based Bel-Aire Mechanical to expand its mechanical and plumbing services footprint in Arizona. The acquisition adds over 400 professionals and broadens Therma's capabilities and geographic reach across mission-critical end markets such as data centers, semiconductors, and biopharma.

Service Champions Group, a portfolio company of Odyssey Investment Partners, has acquired two Phoenix-metro HVAC businesses: Howard Air and Scottsdale Air Heating & Cooling. The add-on deals expand Service Champions' footprint and capabilities in the southwestern U.S., bringing established residential and light-commercial HVAC operations and experienced leadership into its platform.

Tucker Hill Air, Plumbing & Electric announced the acquisition of Simple Home Comfort, LLC, a Phoenix-based provider of heating and cooling services founded by Tyler Stettler in 2015. The deal brings Simple Home Comfort's local residential and light-commercial HVAC capabilities into Tucker Hill’s growing Phoenix-area home services platform.

Service Champions Group, a portfolio company of Odyssey Investment Partners, has agreed to acquire Hobaica Services, a long-established residential HVAC, plumbing and home services provider in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The deal strengthens Service Champions' presence in the Phoenix market and is part of its aggressive roll-up strategy to build a leading residential services platform in the Western United States.

Tucker Hill Air, Plumbing & Electric has acquired Air McConnell, LLC, a family-owned HVAC service provider based in Gilbert, Arizona. The acquisition supports Tucker Hill's 2021 expansion strategy to grow its footprint in the Phoenix market by adding local residential and commercial HVAC, plumbing and electrical service capabilities.

HomeServe USA has acquired Canyon State Air Conditioning, Heating and Plumbing, a 30-year-old residential HVAC and plumbing provider serving Sun City and surrounding communities in the Phoenix area. The acquisition — HomeServe's fourth HVAC purchase in greater Phoenix in under a year — adds a 28-person team and strengthens HomeServe's local service footprint and customer-facing capabilities in Arizona.

HomeServe USA acquired Sterling Air Services, a Mesa, Arizona-based HVAC and plumbing services provider, to expand its presence in the Phoenix East Valley. Sterling — founded by Joel and Anastasia Harris and operating with a ~12-technician team serving residential customers — will join HomeServe's regional operations to broaden service capacity and local coverage.

Wrench Group, a national home services operator based in Marietta, Georgia, acquired Collins Comfort Masters, a Gilbert, Arizona-based HVAC and plumbing services provider. The acquisition expands Wrench Group's footprint in the Phoenix metropolitan area and adds local HVAC, plumbing and drain-cleaning capabilities to its existing Phoenix brands.

Huron Capital-backed Pueblo Mechanical & Controls (an ExecFactor platform) acquired Niemeyer Brothers Plumbing, a full-service commercial plumbing provider in the greater Phoenix area. The add-on expands Pueblo's service offering by adding plumbing as a new service line; financial terms were not disclosed and Niemeyer leadership will remain in place.

Huron Capital-backed Pueblo Mechanical & Controls (the ExecFactor platform) has acquired Innovative Mechanical Systems, a Phoenix-based commercial HVAC installer and service provider. The undisclosed add-on deal expands Pueblo's service offerings and geographic reach in the Phoenix market and adds experienced technicians and preventative maintenance capabilities to the platform.

Huron Capital-backed Pueblo Mechanical & Controls has acquired the Arizona operations of Denver-based Westover Corporation, expanding Pueblo’s HVAC controls capabilities and technician capacity in the Phoenix market. The transaction is the fourth add-on for Pueblo's ExecFactor platform as the company continues a buy-and-build strategy in the Southwestern U.S.; financial terms were not disclosed.

Pueblo Mechanical & Controls, a Huron Capital-backed HVAC platform, completed add-on acquisitions of Newgaard Mechanical Inc. (Chandler, AZ) and CFM Mechanical LLC (Phoenix, AZ). These transactions expand Pueblo's HVAC installation, retrofit, service and controls capabilities in Arizona and help the platform surpass $100 million in annual revenue.

Huron Capital’s HVAC platform Pueblo Mechanical & Controls has acquired Commercial Air, Inc., a Phoenix-based commercial HVAC installation, maintenance and repair contractor founded in 1996. The deal is an add-on to Pueblo’s buy-and-build strategy to expand its commercial HVAC footprint across Arizona and the surrounding Southwestern states.
