Packaging Acquisitions in Pennsylvania

Veritiv Operating Company has acquired the packaging distribution business of S. Walter Packaging Corp., adding S. Walter’s custom packaging, direct-to-store services and multi-brand kitting capabilities to Veritiv’s specialty packaging platform. The transaction expands Veritiv’s presence in high-value segments such as retail, hospitality and food & beverage; S. Walter operates in Trevose and Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania and has about 110 employees.

Minneapolis-based private equity firm ShoreView has acquired M&Q (M&Q Engineered Materials / M&Q Packaging) from Heartwood Partners, marking ShoreView’s eleventh platform investment from its latest fund. M&Q is a U.S.-based manufacturer of high-temperature resistant thermoplastic nylon, polyester, and polyamide flexible packaging serving protein, foodservice and specialty industrial end markets; ShoreView plans to support growth and pursue add-on acquisitions to expand capabilities and end-market penetration.

Wise, a U.S.-based business forms, labels and digital printing specialist, has acquired the assets of Phoenix Data of Montgomery, Pennsylvania. The deal adds Phoenix Data's business forms and distributor relationships across the Eastern United States to Wise's existing label and digital print capabilities, expanding Wise's service offering and customer reach.

Unicorr Packaging Group, a family-owned corrugated converter based in North Haven, Connecticut, has acquired TriState Container Corporation, a Bensalem, Pennsylvania corrugated packaging manufacturer with three Philadelphia-area facilities. The deal expands Unicorr's geographic footprint into Pennsylvania and adds TriState's high-graphic and digital printing capabilities to Unicorr's manufacturing network.

Iconex acquired MAX International Converters, Inc., MAXStick Products Ltd. and key assets from McAuliffe Paper Inc., expanding its liner-free and high-performance label product portfolio. The deals (financial terms undisclosed) add MAXStick technology and McAuliffe's coating assets to Iconex's global label and receipt solutions platform to better serve retail, food service, warehousing and pharmaceutical customers.

Insight Equity acquired Clearly Clean (a maker of recyclable PET food trays) in a partnership with Blue Sage Capital, which joined as a minority investor. The transaction will fund expansion of manufacturing capacity, sales and marketing investments, and product-line growth for Clearly Clean, which is headquartered in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania.

Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) acquired LUX Global Label, a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and security labels headquartered in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. The acquisition, which closed December 9, 2022, adds LUX’s ~200 employees and production sites in Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico to MCC’s Home and Personal Care business to deepen capabilities in personal care and pharmaceutical end-markets.

Envoy Solutions, a specialized U.S. distributor, has acquired Levittown, Pennsylvania-based Hughes Enterprises, a 70-year-old packaging distribution company. The deal expands Envoy's packaging capabilities and national distribution footprint, bringing Hughes' packaging supplies and equipment expertise into Envoy's family of regional distributors.

TricorBraun has acquired beverage packaging specialists Zuckerman Honickman (King of Prussia, PA) and Vessel Packaging (Canada), strengthening its beverage packaging offering, sustainable packaging expertise, and Canadian footprint. Both businesses will operate as stand-alone companies under the TricorBraun umbrella, with management teams and staff remaining in place.

GenNx360 Capital Partners' portfolio company, B2B Industrial Packaging, has acquired Accurate Packaging & Fulfillment, LLC, a contract packaging, fulfillment and trucking provider based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The deal is an add-on acquisition intended to expand B2B Industrial Packaging's service offerings and local capabilities as part of its ongoing roll-up strategy under GenNx360's ownership.

B2B Industrial Packaging, a platform backed by GenNx360 Capital Partners, has acquired Lewis Industrial Supply Co of Harrisburg, PA, including its subsidiaries Quaker City Paper and Sun Industrial Supply Co. The add-on expands B2B’s geographic footprint and product/service capabilities in industrial packaging and supplies, leveraging GenNx360’s resources to support further organic growth.

Brook & Whittle Holdings, a PE-backed North American label manufacturer (majority owned by Snow Phipps Group), acquired a label converting facility in Croydon, Pennsylvania (formerly Gilbreth Packaging Solutions) to expand its shrink sleeve label capabilities. The add-on strengthens Brook & Whittle's capacity for high-end shrink sleeve and pressure sensitive film labels, supporting consumer and healthcare customers across North America.

LUX Global Label, a Resilience Capital Partners-backed label manufacturer, has acquired Labelworx, a Levittown, Pennsylvania-based digital label and packaging specialist. The add-on expands LUX Global Label's digital printing capabilities (including pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and flexible packaging), diversifies its end markets and adds a U.S. production facility to its portfolio.

La Crosse-based packaging and label manufacturer Inland has acquired Monet Graphics, a flexographic printer of primary labels and coupons located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Monet operates a 30,000 sq. ft. facility with about 23 employees; Inland says the plant will be added to its existing facilities to maintain and grow Monet’s business and expand Inland’s footprint and capabilities.
