Acquisitions in New York in 2013

PointClear Solutions has acquired Worry Free Labs, a New York–based mobile UX design and development firm, to strengthen its consumer-facing mobile application and patient engagement capabilities in the mHealth market. Worry Free Labs will operate as a subsidiary led by CEO Paul Choi and the combination expands PointClear's UX and mobile design capabilities alongside its backend healthcare software expertise.

Alarm.com acquired EnergyHub to integrate EnergyHub's Mercury demand-response and energy-efficiency platform into its connected-home offerings. EnergyHub will continue operating independently under founder Seth Frader-Thompson while leveraging Alarm.com's dealer network and installed base to expand its utility and residential deployments.

Chicago Growth Partners, together with Trident Capital, has acquired a controlling interest in 2Checkout, an online payments processor serving thousands of ecommerce businesses. The investors said the partnership and their payments industry experience will support 2Checkout's technology enhancements and aggressive global growth plans.

IAC has completed the acquisition of Tutor.com, an online tutoring service that connects students with qualified tutors for on-demand one-to-one sessions. Tutor.com will continue to be led by founder and CEO George Cigale from its New York offices; IAC expects to accelerate usage through product, marketing and distribution expertise.
