Telecommunications Acquisitions in Alabama

JSI, a portfolio company of Stone-Goff Partners, has acquired LogicomUSA, a provider of voice, network, hosted VoIP and 24/7 contact center services for broadband providers and electric cooperatives. The add-on expands JSI’s network engineering and managed services capabilities by integrating Logicom’s contact center platform and BYOA offering to deliver end-to-end solutions to broadband operators nationwide.

Oak Hill Capital committed $150 million in primary capital for a majority investment in Lit Communities to fund expansion of Lit's fiber-to-the-home networks in unserved and underserved U.S. communities. Existing shareholders including Stephens Capital Partners, The Pritzker Organization and Lit management remain shareholders; the funding will support construction to reach more than 200,000 locations over the next few years.

ENTRUST Solutions Group, backed by Kohlberg & Company, has acquired FiberRise Communications, a Huntsville, Alabama–based provider of utility broadband consulting, engineering and fiber network build/operate services. The acquisition expands ENTRUST's utility broadband and grid modernization capabilities and footprint, enabling support for electric cooperatives, municipalities and investor-owned utilities.

C Spire has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Troy Cablevision, Inc., with the transaction also including Union Springs Telephone Company, Inc. The deal expands C Spire’s fiber-based broadband footprint in Alabama’s Wiregrass region, enabling expanded residential and business broadband, cable TV, and IT services across multiple counties.

Dover Corporation has completed the acquisition of AvaLAN Wireless Systems Incorporated, a provider of secure wireless and wired Ethernet networking solutions, managed routers, SaaS and cloud services. AvaLAN will become part of Dover Fueling Solutions to strengthen Dover’s capability to deliver secure, connected infrastructure and digitized solutions for the fuel retail, enterprise and government markets; terms were not disclosed.

Oak Hill Capital, through an entity formed by the firm, agreed to acquire Otelco Inc. for $11.75 per share (approximately $40.6 million equity purchase price) with an enterprise value of about $105.6 million. The deal, announced July 27, 2020, closed March 31, 2021; Oak Hill intends to accelerate Otelco’s fiber-to-the-premises deployment and combine Otelco with its fiber investments GoNetspeed and Lantek to expand fiber network capabilities and geographic reach.

Stephens Capital Partners and The Pritzker Organization have completed an investment in Lit Communities to support deployment of fiber‑optic broadband networks nationwide. The capital will fund immediate construction of Lit’s Medina Fiber subsidiary project in Medina County, Ohio and accelerate Lit’s municipal partnership model and future market expansion.

SSP Innovations, a portfolio company of Warren Equity Partners, has acquired 3-GIS, a provider of geospatial back-office web and mobile products for the telecommunications industry. The acquisition (closed Dec. 23, 2020) adds 3-GIS's SaaS product suite to SSP's utility GIS and telecom offering as an add-on to expand capabilities and market reach.

Hargray Communications has closed the acquisition of the Alabama assets of USA Communications, expanding the company's network to serve Pell City and surrounding areas. The deal transfers local residential and commercial broadband, TV and phone services to Hargray as it integrates the network and billing systems to enhance service offerings in the southeastern United States.
