AMD has agreed to acquire World Labs in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.2 billion. The deal will add the AI research team behind World Labs—founded and led by Dr. Fei-Fei Li—to AMD’s AI business, aiming to better connect AI model research with future compute hardware and software systems.
AMD agreed to acquire Taalas, a Toronto-based developer of specialized AI inference silicon, to strengthen AMD’s full-stack AI roadmap. The deal is intended to improve inference performance and efficiency by integrating Taalas’ inference-optimization technology into AMD’s accelerator roadmap and system-level solutions with AMD Instinct GPUs.
AMD announced the acquisition of MEXT, a developer of AI-driven memory optimization technology. AMD said the deal expands its AI portfolio and adds predictive memory technology intended to improve performance, reduce total cost of ownership, and accelerate deployment for enterprise and cloud customers.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has acquired Brium, a small team of compiler and AI software experts, to accelerate its open AI software stack and improve model execution and inference optimization for AMD Instinct GPUs. The deal brings domain-specific compiler and model-execution expertise to AMD to expand performance, reduce developer hardware dependencies, and broaden AMD’s reach into industries such as healthcare, life sciences, finance and manufacturing.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has acquired Enosemi, a Silicon Valley photonics startup, to accelerate development of silicon photonics and co‑packaged optics technologies for next‑generation AI systems. The deal extends AMD’s existing partnership with Enosemi and brings the startup’s team and IP into AMD to scale optical interconnect and photonics capabilities across data center and AI system architectures; terms were not disclosed.
