IonQ Acquires Skyloom Global Corp.

IonQ has completed its acquisition of Skyloom Global Corp., a U.S.-based developer of lightwave-optics and free-space optical communications terminals. The deal brings Skyloom's photonic systems and secure, high-bandwidth communications capabilities into IonQ's portfolio to accelerate the company's quantum networking, quantum key distribution, and secure communications roadmap for government, aerospace, defense and commercial customers.

The deal brings LSI’s lasers, detectors, advanced packaging, and manufacturing capabilities into QCi’s thin-film lithium niobate photonics platform to create a vertically integrated, domestically manufactured photonics and quantum technology offering and to strengthen near-term revenue and defense/aerospace market access.
