VERSANT Acquires Free TV Networks

VERSANT (Nasdaq: VSNT) has completed its acquisition of Free TV Networks (FTN), a U.S. owner/operator of free over-the-air digital broadcast networks (diginets) and FAST channels. Financial terms were not disclosed; FTN will operate as a dedicated business within VERSANT and founder Jonathan Katz has joined VERSANT to continue leading FTN's operations.

Minute Media has acquired STN Video (formerly SendtoNews), a Victoria, BC–based online video platform and North American sports content distributor that holds highlight rights with major U.S. sports leagues. The deal brings STN's award-winning OVP, a library of more than 2 million videos, and distribution capabilities into Minute Media's Voltax Video ecosystem; financing support for the transaction came from HSBC Innovation Banking and funds/accounts managed by BlackRock. Frontier (a prior investor in STN) will remain a supportive shareholder of Minute Media.

Verizon to Acquire Frontier Communications

Verizon Communications Inc. agreed to acquire Frontier Communications Parent, Inc. in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $20 billion. The deal will expand Verizon's fiber footprint by adding Frontier's nationwide fiber network and 2.2 million fiber subscribers, enhancing Verizon's ability to deliver broadband, mobility and intelligent-edge services across more U.S. markets.
