KKR and Oak Hill Capital Make New Investments in MetroNet

Funds managed by KKR will join long-time partner Oak Hill Capital and MetroNet management in making new equity investments in MetroNet to accelerate deployment of fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) broadband. The capital will support MetroNet's continued expansion of its 100% fiber optic network into additional U.S. communities and growth of residential and business broadband services.

Metronet Acquires US Internet

Metronet has acquired US Internet (USI), a Minnetonka-based pure-play fiber provider whose network reaches more than 140,000 homes and businesses in the greater Minneapolis area. Terms were not disclosed; the deal follows Metronet’s recent acquisition by a T‑Mobile and KKR joint venture and results in an exit for investor Everside Capital Partners.

Lynx Equity Acquires The MNM Group Inc.

Lynx Equity Limited has acquired The MNM Group Inc., a Willow Grove, Pennsylvania-based provider of low-voltage cabling, wireless infrastructure, DAS and EV charging installation services and custom cable assemblies. The acquisition expands Lynx's portfolio into national telecommunications and electrical network services, leveraging MNM's design & build and manufacturing capabilities across the U.S. and Canada.

MetroNet Acquires Vexus Fiber

MetroNet announced a merger with Lubbock-based Vexus Fiber, combining their fiber-to-the-home networks to accelerate FTTH expansion across Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. The companies will continue to operate under their current brands and leadership teams; terms were not disclosed.

KKR and T‑Mobile JV Acquires Metronet from Oak Hill and Cinelli Family

KKR and T‑Mobile have completed the acquisition of Metronet through a joint venture, buying the leading independent fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) operator from majority shareholders Oak Hill Capital and the Cinelli family. Metronet will operate as a wholesale network builder and commercial services provider while T‑Mobile Fiber takes responsibility for residential customers; Oak Hill and the Cinelli family will remain minority investors in the new JV. The transaction is intended to accelerate fiber deployment across underserved U.S. markets and leverage Metronet’s network engineering and build capabilities alongside T‑Mobile’s retail and customer experience capabilities.

NewNet to Acquire Nokia Siemens Networks' WiMAX Business

NewNet Communication Technologies, a Skyview Capital portfolio company, announced plans to acquire the WiMAX business from Nokia Siemens Networks, including the full product portfolio, related employees and assets, and active customer and supplier contracts. Approximately 300 Nokia Siemens Networks employees (many in suburban Chicago, USA and Hangzhou, China) are expected to transfer; the deal was expected to close before December 31, 2011 and terms were not disclosed.
