M/C Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm focused on communications and IT services, completed the acquisition of AerioConnect, LLC, a Los Angeles-based ISP serving multi‑family and commercial buildings, on September 30, 2020. M/C intends to build Aerio into a platform for residential and commercial broadband in the greater Los Angeles market, investing in products and services and pursuing geographic expansion and additional acquisitions.

The acquisition, which closed after M/C Partners' September 30, 2020 investment in Aerio, expands Aerio's customer base and depth in the greater Los Angeles broadband market.

Zentro and BAI Connect Merge Under M/C Partners to Create Leading Multifamily ISP

CAI Capital Partners Invests in Midwestern Electric

Vancouver-based private equity firm CAI Capital Partners has partnered with Midwestern Electric, a specialty electrical infrastructure services provider headquartered in East Chicago, Indiana. Management (including Ryan Rentschler, Ryan Lepper and Lenore Obajtek) retained meaningful equity and will continue to lead the business as CAI provides capital (with debt financing from CIBC) to support platform growth and expansion of MWE's municipal and commercial electrical services.

Smartaira Acquires Assets of Direct Plus, LLC

Smartaira acquired the assets of Florida-based multifamily ISP Direct Plus, LLC to expand its east coast footprint and grow its bulk internet and entertainment subscription base in the MDU market. SDC Capital Partners provided capital for the acquisition and Smartaira signed a national service agreement with MasTec Advanced Technologies to maintain installation and fulfillment continuity for Direct Plus customers.
