Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm focused on the food sector, agreed to acquire Bolthouse Farms from Campbell Soup Company for $510 million in cash. Bolthouse Farms, founded in 1915 and headquartered in Bakersfield and Santa Monica, California, is a vertically integrated producer of fresh carrots, refrigerated premium beverages and refrigerated salad dressings with approximately 2,200 employees; Butterfly named Jeff Dunn as CEO following the transaction.

Bolthouse Farms Acquires Carrot Operations of Rousseau Farming Company

Bolthouse Farms has entered into an agreement to acquire the carrot operations of Arizona-based Rousseau Farming Company. The deal expands Bolthouse's regional growing footprint into Arizona to better serve customers in the Southwest while Rousseau retains ownership of its other produce operations; terms were not disclosed.

80 Acres Farms and Soli Organic announced a strategic merger to form a scaled national indoor farming company that will operate under the 80 Acres Farms name and be headquartered in Hamilton, Ohio. The combined business unites 80 Acres' GroLoop technology and indoor farming operations with Soli's retail footprint and agronomic expertise, serving more than 17,000 storefronts and projecting nearly $200 million in first-year revenues.

B&G Foods Acquires Farmwise

B&G Foods acquired Farmwise LLC, the maker of Veggie Fries, Veggie Tots and Veggie Rings, to expand its plant-based and frozen product offerings. The Wellesley, Massachusetts-based brand — founded by Dave and Cristina Peters — will be integrated into B&G's portfolio and leveraged to develop new Green Giant SKUs. Terms were not disclosed.

Boyne Capital-Backed Greenrise Technologies Acquires Southern Nurseries

Greenrise Technologies, a Boyne Capital portfolio company, has acquired Southern Nurseries, a Nashville-area manufacturer and supplier of engineered biofiltration soils branded as Holy Cow! Soils. The add-on expands Greenrise's product portfolio and manufacturing capability for green roof and stormwater-management applications and will support geographic expansion in the Central Tennessee region.
