Macquarie AirFinance Acquires $2.2B Aircraft Portfolio from ALAFCO

Macquarie AirFinance, with backing and equity from Macquarie Asset Management, PGGM Infrastructure Fund and Australian Retirement Trust (ART), will acquire a $US2.2 billion aircraft portfolio from ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company K.S.C.P. The deal — supported by a $US1.65 billion acquisition facility underwritten by BNP Paribas, Citibank, MUFG Bank and Natixis — will expand and modernize Macquarie AirFinance's fleet and improve its emissions profile; ALAFCO shareholders approved the transaction and completion was expected in 2023.

Onex Partners Acquires Farsound Aviation Limited

Onex Corporation's Onex Partners Opportunities Fund has agreed to acquire Farsound Aviation Limited from AGIC Capital for an undisclosed amount. Farsound is a Brentwood, England–based supply chain and distribution specialist serving the aerospace engine MRO market, and the transaction is being completed in partnership with Farsound's management team led by CEO Chris Knott.

SMBC Aviation Capital Acquires Goshawk Management Ltd.

SMBC Aviation Capital completed the acquisition of Dublin-based aircraft lessor Goshawk Management Ltd., creating the second-largest global aircraft lessor by number of aircraft and the largest Japanese-owned lessor. The combined business operates a portfolio of over 700 owned and managed aircraft (with additional new-technology narrowbody orders) and is positioned to benefit from a sector recovery through enhanced scale and funding advantages.

O2 Investment Partners (via FCAH Aerospace) Invests in Cobalt Aero Services

O2 Investment Partners has invested through its platform FCAH Aerospace to acquire Cobalt Aero Services, a licensed FAA/EASA repair station specializing in nacelle, thrust reverser, and airframe component MRO. The deal adds complementary depot-level repair capabilities to the FCAH platform, supporting geographic expansion, capability enhancement, and increased service offerings to commercial, cargo, and defense customers.

Avolon Acquires $5B, 118-Aircraft Portfolio from Castlelake

Avolon has agreed to buy a $5 billion, 118-aircraft portfolio from Castlelake L.P., acquiring the fleet held in Castlelake Aviation Limited. The purchase, which Castlelake says will allow it to reinvest proceeds into new opportunities, is expected to close in Q1 2025 and will expand Avolon’s fleet and cashflow profile.

New State Aviation Holdings Acquires Finnoff Aviation Products

New State Capital Partners’ aviation platform, New State Aviation Holdings (NS Aviation), has acquired Finnoff Aviation Products, a Broomfield, Colorado–based provider of engine, propeller and avionics upgrades for the Pilatus PC-12. Finnoff’s founder and management will remain with the company; the deal is an add-on to NS Aviation’s existing aviation portfolio (including Blackhawk Aerospace and AVEX) and terms were not disclosed.
