Cadence Design Systems Acquires OpenEye Scientific

Cadence Design Systems announced the acquisition of OpenEye Scientific Software for approximately $500 million, extending Cadence's computational software expertise into molecular modeling and simulation for life sciences. OpenEye's cloud-native Orion SaaS platform and scientific toolkits—used by 19 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies—will be combined with Cadence's algorithmic, solver and large-data management capabilities to accelerate computational drug discovery; the deal is expected to contribute about $40 million in fiscal 2023.
