TDK Corporation Acquires SoftEye, Inc.

TDK Corporation has acquired SoftEye, Inc., a San Diego–based developer of custom chips, cameras, software and algorithms for smart glasses; SoftEye will become an indirectly wholly owned subsidiary of TDK. The deal strengthens TDK's AI ecosystem and provides low-power eye-intent hardware and software technology to accelerate smart-glasses systems and a new human–machine interface for interacting with generative AI.

OpenEye's cloud-native Orion SaaS platform and scientific toolkits—used by 19 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies—will be combined with Cadence's algorithmic, solver and large-data management capabilities to accelerate computational drug discovery; the deal is expected to contribute about $40 million in fiscal 2023.
