Gentex Corporation announced an asset acquisition of eSight to develop and manufacture next-generation mobile electronic eyewear for people with visual impairments. Gentex said it will leverage its digital vision, software and manufacturing expertise to advance eSight technology and feature the next-gen devices at CES 2024.

Gentex says the purchase expands its automotive and consumer electronics capabilities — including VOXX’s distribution network, EyeLock biometric technology and premium audio brands — to accelerate growth in smart home, automotive OEM/aftermarket and consumer products.

British eyewear designer and manufacturer Inspecs Group plc has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Nuremberg-based Eschenbach Holding GmbH from funds advised by Equistone Partners Europe. The deal (reported at approximately €94.85 million) combines two leading eyewear businesses to strengthen the enlarged group's global market position, broaden product and customer portfolios and accelerate international expansion; the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals.
