Winters Bros. Hauling of Long Island, LLC acquired the waste and recycling assets of Emil Norsic and Son, Inc., closing on June 30, 2022. The deal expands Winters Bros.' East End operations — including taking over Norsic's Southampton transfer station and service locations — and adds Norsic's ~70 employees and equipment to Winters Bros.' network.

Komar Industries Acquires Winter Equipment Corporation

Komar Industries, a Groveport, Ohio-based designer and manufacturer of industrial waste and recycling processing systems, has acquired Winter Equipment Corporation, a distributor of waste handling and recycling equipment based in Columbia, Pennsylvania. The acquisition brings Winter’s sales, installation, service and rental capabilities into Komar’s channel footprint across the Eastern United States and was completed by owners Mark and Tammy O'Neal.

Long Island Waste Services (Terramont-backed) Completes Combination with National Waste Services

Long Island Waste Services (LIWS), a Terramont Infrastructure Partners-backed platform, completed a business combination with National Waste Services (NWS), combining their commercial waste collection, transfer station and recycling operations across Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. The Leone family will retain an ownership stake and Joe Leone will join the combined company's senior leadership; the deal was supported by co-investor Environmental Services Investors and debt financing from Comerica Bank, Tecum Capital Partners, Patriot Capital, and Colbeck Capital.

Casella Waste Systems Acquires Assets of Consolidated Waste Services (Twin Bridges)

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the assets of Consolidated Waste Services, LLC (dba Twin Bridges) for approximately $219 million in cash. The deal includes two collection operations, a transfer station, a materials recovery facility (MRF) and other properties, and is expected to generate about $70 million of annualized revenue and close by Q4 2023.

Interstate Waste Services Acquires North Atlantic Waste & Recycling

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. (IWS) has acquired North Atlantic Waste & Recycling (formerly Country Disposal), a family-owned waste and recycling hauler serving central and southern Connecticut. The deal expands IWS's footprint in Connecticut and adds North Atlantic's team, fleet and service contracts to IWS's regional operations.

Clairvest (with Ironwood) Invests in Star Waste Systems (Boston Carting Services)

Clairvest Group Inc., through Clairvest Equity Partners VI, made an equity investment to acquire a majority interest in Star Waste Systems (dba Boston Carting Services). Ironwood Capital, an existing investor, participated in the transaction/recapitalization. The deal will support Star Waste’s growth in the Greater Boston market and expand its waste collection and materials-recovery capabilities.
