Waste Management (WM) has acquired Winters Bros. Waste Systems of Long Island (WBLI), a leading regional hauler with over 500 employees, 275 trucks and 12 transfer/recycling locations. Clairvest and other equity holders, including the Winters family, sold their interests; the deal expands WM's footprint and transfer/MRF capabilities on Long Island and into parts of New York City.

Komar Industries Acquires Winter Equipment Corporation

Komar Industries, a Groveport, Ohio-based designer and manufacturer of industrial waste and recycling processing systems, has acquired Winter Equipment Corporation, a distributor of waste handling and recycling equipment based in Columbia, Pennsylvania. The acquisition brings Winter’s sales, installation, service and rental capabilities into Komar’s channel footprint across the Eastern United States and was completed by owners Mark and Tammy O'Neal.

Interstate Waste Services Acquires Filco Carting Corp.

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. (IWS) has acquired Filco Carting Corp., a long-standing New York City waste hauler now headquartered in Closter, New Jersey. Action Carting Environmental Services, a subsidiary of Interstate Waste Services, announced the acquisition and asset purchases of several New York City waste and recycling operators — Diverse Recycling Solutions, Full Circle Recycling Services, and select assets of Evergreen Waste Corp. and City Waste Services — to strengthen its capabilities ahead of the city’s Commercial Waste Zone (CWZ) rollout. All acquired operations will be integrated under the Action brand to expand service capacity and preserve long-standing neighborhood operators.

Long Island Waste Services (Terramont-backed) Completes Combination with National Waste Services

Long Island Waste Services (LIWS), a Terramont Infrastructure Partners-backed platform, completed a business combination with National Waste Services (NWS), combining their commercial waste collection, transfer station and recycling operations across Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. The Leone family will retain an ownership stake and Joe Leone will join the combined company's senior leadership; the deal was supported by co-investor Environmental Services Investors and debt financing from Comerica Bank, Tecum Capital Partners, Patriot Capital, and Colbeck Capital.
